David Butler Biyografisi

Butler, San Francisco, Kaliforniya'da doğdu. Annesi oyuncu, babası ise tiyatroda sahne amiriydi. İlk oyunculuk rolleri sahne oyunlarında figüranlık yapmaktı. Daha sonra iki D. W. Griffith filminde, Evde Kalan Kız ve Hayattaki En Harika Şey'de rol aldı. Ayrıca 1927 Akademi Ödülü kazanan 7. Cennet filminde de rol aldı. Aynı yıl Butler, Fox'un komedi filmi High School Hero ile ilk yönetmenlik denemesine imza attı. Butler'ın Fox'taki dokuz yıllık görev süresi boyunca, dördü Shirley Temple aracı da dahil olmak üzere otuzdan fazla film yönetti. Butler'ın Fox için son filmi Kentucky, Walter Brennan'a En İyi Yardımcı Erkek Oyuncu dalında Akademi Ödülü kazandırdı. Butler, Bing Crosby ile Road to Morocco ve If I Had My Way filmlerinde çalıştı. He directed many films starring Doris Day, among them It's a Great Feeling, Tea for Two, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, Lullaby of Broadway, April in Paris, and Calamity Jane. 50'li yılların sonu ve 1960'lı yıllarda Butler, esas olarak Leave It to Beaver ve Wagon Train gibi televizyon bölümlerini yönetti.
