Ken Russell Biyografisi

Henry Kenneth Alfred "Ken" Russell (3 Temmuz 1927 - 27 Kasım 2011), İngiliz film yönetmeniydi. Televizyon ve sinema alanındaki öncü çalışmaları ve tartışmalı tarzıyla tanınıyor. Cinselliğe ve kiliseye aşırı takıntılı olduğu için eleştirildi. Konusu genellikle ünlü besteciler hakkındadır veya gevşek bir şekilde uyarladığı diğer sanat eserlerine dayanmaktadır. Russell, bestecilerin hayatlarının o dönem için alışılmadık yaratıcı uyarlamalarını yaptığı BBC için yönetmenliğe başladı. Ayrıca bağımsız olarak ve stüdyolar için birçok uzun metrajlı film yönetti. En çok Oscar ödüllü romantik draması Women in Love (1969), tartışma yaratan The Devils (1971), rock müzikali Tommy (1975) ve bilim kurgu filmi Altered States (1980) ile tanınır. Ünlü bir hayran olan İngiliz film eleştirmeni Mark Kermode, yönetmenin başarısını özetlemeye çalışırken Russell adını verdi; "İngiliz sinemasının mutfak lavabosu gerçekçiliğiyle ilgili olmak zorunda olmadığını kanıtlayan biri; her bakımdan Fellini kadar gösterişli olabilir. Şu anda Aslan Ağzı ve Fil Adamın İntikamı gibi çok tuhaf deneysel filmler yapıyor ve bunlar da 1970'lerde yaptığı işler kadar sıra dışı ve dikkat çekici."
