Ronald Lacey Biyografisi

Ronald Lacey, 28 Eylül 1935 tarihinde Harrow, Londra, İngiltere'de dünyaya gelmiştir. Londra Müzik ve Dramatik Sanatlar Akademisi'nde (LAMDA) eğitim aldıktan sonra 1960'ların başında kariyerine başladı. Kendine özgü yüz hatları, özellikle de patlak gözleri ve sinsi gülümsemesiyle kısa sürede İngiliz sinema ve televizyonunun aranan karakter oyuncularından biri haline geldi. Genellikle eksantrik, garip veya kötü niyetli karakterleri canlandırmasıyla tanındı. İngiltere'de özellikle popüler BBC sitcom'u "Porridge"de canlandırdığı mahkûm Harris karakteriyle geniş kitlelerce tanındı. Ancak Lacey'i uluslararası alanda bir ikon haline getiren ve sinema tarihine adını yazdıran rol, Steven Spielberg'in yönettiği "Kutsal Hazine Avcıları" (Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981) filminde canlandırdığı Nazi Gestapo ajanı Binbaşı Arnold Toht oldu. Soğukkanlı, sadist ve ürkütücü tavırlarıyla Toht karakterine hayat veren Lacey, sinema tarihinin en unutulmaz ve nefret edilen kötü adamlarından birini yarattı. Karakterin filmin finalindeki, Ahit Sandığı'nın gücüyle yüzünün eridiği sahne, sinemanın en şok edici ve akılda kalıcı anlarından biri olarak kabul edilir. Bu efsanevi rolün ardından Lacey, genellikle benzer rollerde uluslararası yapımlarda yer almaya devam etti. Clint Eastwood'un yönettiği "Firefox" (1982), Arnold Schwarzenegger ile başrolü paylaştığı "Kızıl Sonya" (Red Sonja) (1985) ve "Flesh+Blood" (1985) gibi filmlerde de kötü karakterleri canlandırarak bu imajını pekiştirdi. Ronald Lacey, bir süredir mücadele ettiği kanser hastalığının ardından 15 Mayıs 1991'de karaciğer yetmezliği nedeniyle 55 yaşında hayatını kaybetmiştir.
